The RIT – NSS team organizes special camps in rural areas, to spread awareness about health & hygiene, underline the importance of literacy , and enlighten the mass about the various self-employment options available today. The team has also undertaken works of whitewashing school buildings in neighboring villages , as part of their project. The college also won an award in 2005, for outstanding NSS activity amongst Tamil Nadu educational institutions. The award-giving Ceremony was at Anna University , Chennai.

As another wing of the NSS, the Youth Red Cross team organizes blood donation camps, conducts literacy programs, spreading awareness about killer diseases like HIV, Disaster Management Courses and Youth Peer Education Programs.
